Part-Time Academic Tutor – K–9

Scott Road Tutorial Centre is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Part-Time Academic Tutors to join our team in Scott Road, Surrey, BC.

We provide personalized, in-person academic support to students from Kindergarten to Grade 9. We are looking for individuals who enjoy working with children and are confident teaching subjects according to the BC school curriculum.

Students currently pursuing an Education degree or other relevant post-secondary programs are welcome to apply.

Position Details

Position: Part-Time Academic Tutor

Location: Scott Road, Surrey, BC

Pay: $20–$30 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience

Schedule: Part-time, flexible

Students: Kindergarten – Grade 9

Subjects

Tutors may provide support in one or more of the following areas:

- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- French
- Other subjects taught within the BC school curriculum

Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and/or small-group tutoring to students from Kindergarten to Grade 9.
- Teach and support students according to the BC curriculum and their individual learning needs.
- Help students understand academic concepts and improve their overall academic performance.
- Prepare and provide practice exercises, assignments, and learning activities.
- Provide remedial and enrichment support where appropriate.
- Monitor student progress and identify areas that require additional attention.
- Create a positive, engaging, and encouraging learning environment.
- Communicate professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress when required.
- Prepare lessons and activities appropriate to the student's grade level and learning objectives.

Qualifications & Skills
- Experience teaching or tutoring students according to the BC school curriculum is an asset.




- Strong knowledge of one or more subjects taught in BC schools.
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience is an asset, but not required.
- Post-secondary students are welcome to apply, particularly those pursuing Education or other relevant programs.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and patient when working with students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Responsible, dependable, and professional.
- Enjoys working with children and families.
- Committed to helping students achieve their academic goals.

We are looking for candidates with availability for:

- Weekday daytime hours
- After-school hours
- Evenings
- Weekends

Weekend availability is considered an asset. Tutors are not required to travel to students' homes. Transportation is not provided.

Background Check

Successful candidates will be required to complete an appropriate criminal record check for working with children and youth.
