The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, Americas, the Process Engineer will be the primary engineering resource supporting A-Gas' Dartmouth facility, with additional support to its Stoney Creek, Ontario operation. This newly created role will focus on optimizing existing processes, improving capacity and reliability, and delivering capital projects as A-Gas continues to grow its Canadian operations

Key Responsibilities (not intended to be an exhaustive list)

- Major Capital Project Development and Implementation:
- Lead capital and operational engineering projects from scoping through commissioning, delivering agreed outcomes for safety, quality, schedule, cost and functionality.
- Lead or support process hazard analyses, including HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA studies, and coordinate approved actions through closure.
- Manage construction execution plans, contractor coordination, field support, commissioning readiness and handover documentation for assigned projects.
- Prepare technical evaluations, specifications and recommendations for capital equipment such as distillation columns, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, piping, valves and instrumentation.
- Apply sustainable design, mechanical integrity and reliability principles, including complete equipment data, critical spares and preventive maintenance requirements within the CMMS.
- Process Improvement:




- Assess current-state processes and implement improvements that increase capacity, uptime, product quality, process safety and emissions performance.
- Support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives, including Kaizen events, root-cause analysis, standard work and performance tracking.
- Identify and deliver projects that reduce emissions, improve resource efficiency and support environmental compliance objectives.
- Other Plant Related Activities:
- Develop future capital project plans aligned with business strategy, operational needs and regional priorities in collaboration with commercial, operations, maintenance and leadership stakeholders.
- Administer and support Management of Change requirements for equipment, process, instrumentation, controls and operational changes.
- Provide technical coaching, training and knowledge transfer to site personnel to support safe, consistent and current operating practices.
- Ensure appropriate risk assessments, hazard identification and control measures are completed for work performed by employees, contractors and subcontractors.
- Promote compliance with company policies, applicable Canadian occupational health and safety requirements, environmental requirements and site procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- Five or more years of relevant engineering experience in an industrial, chemical processing, manufacturing, energy, utilities or related environment.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or Nova Scotia,



or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario and/or Engineers Nova Scotia. Engineer-in-Training candidates with solid relevant experience may also be considered where appropriate.
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering projects from concept development and business case preparation through detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout.
- Experience facilitating or contributing to HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, risk assessment, Management of Change and process safety activities.
- Working knowledge of process control systems, instrumentation, control strategies and operational troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of chemical processing unit operations, particularly fractional distillation, separation processes, heat transfer and fluid flow.
- Applied knowledge of thermodynamics, including vapour-liquid equilibrium and phase behaviour.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Project.
- Knowledge of Canadian industrial safety expectations, including working at heights, confined space, lockout/tagout, contractor safety and permit-to-work practices.
- Experience with pressurized liquefied gas systems or specification of high-pressure gas systems.
- Working knowledge of relevant codes, standards and regulatory expectations, such as ASME BPVC Section VIII, ASME B31.3, CSA standards, pressure equipment requirements, applicable provincial requirements in Ontario and Nova Scotia, and other relevant industry standards.
