Role Description The Product Owner will play a key role in shaping and improving digital products and services that support E4A Mentors’ scholarship and mentoring initiatives in Africa. This part-time remote role involves defining and prioritizing product backlogs, translating organizational goals and user needs into clear requirements, and coordinating with volunteer mentors, technical contributors, and stakeholders to deliver impactful product features.
Day-to-day responsibilities include gathering and analyzing user feedback, refining product roadmaps, preparing user stories, and ensuring that product changes enhance the experience for learners, mentors, and partner organizations.
The Product
Owner will collaborate on testing new features, monitoring product performance, and recommending improvements that align with the organization’s mission of expanding access to educational and sustainability-focused opportunities.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong product specialization skills, including experience acting as a Product Owner or Product Specialist in educational, nonprofit, or community-focused initiatives.
- Candidates should possess analytical skills such as data interpretation, problem-solving, and the ability to translate user feedback into actionable product decisions.
- Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, including explicit written and verbal communication, stakeholder coordination, and the ability to engage diverse audiences across Africa and beyond.
- Candidates should possess customer service skills, demonstrating empathy, responsiveness, and a user-centered mindset when working with learners, mentors, and partners.
- Candidates should possess basic sales or partnership development skills, including the ability to present product value, support outreach, and contribute to funding or collaboration initiatives.
- Additional beneficial qualifications include experience with agile or lean product development, familiarity with online community platforms (e.g., WhatsApp, web portals), and an interest in education, youth empowerment, and sustainability in Africa.
