OVERVIEW The Active Lifestyle Center is a vibrant non-profit organization that enhances the quality of life throughout the community. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of the Center’s “Getting Out” Programs.

The “Getting Out” Programs are designed to help seniors remain active, independent, socially connected, and engaged within their communities. These programs provide opportunities for seniors to learn new sports and recreational activities, become more comfortable using public transportation, access local library resources, explore local parks and tourism opportunities, and participate in local arts and cultural events.

The Program Coordinator will be a highly organized, personable, and community-minded team member who will develop new community partnerships, coordinate off-site activities, and support participants in becoming more confident accessing community resources independently.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

- Post-secondary education in Recreation, Gerontology, Social Services, Community Development, Tourism, Event Planning, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with seniors and/or in a community, recreation, non-profit, or social service setting.
- Experience coordinating programs, events, activities, or community initiatives.
- Experience developing and maintaining community partnerships is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer/database programs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to coordinate multiple programs, schedules, partners, and activities.
- Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation considered an asset.
- Current Police Records Check – Vulnerable Sector Check may be required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Coordinate the development, planning,



scheduling, and delivery of the Center’s “Getting Out” Programs.
- Attend and oversee programs, activities, trips, and events that take place off-site.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses, community organizations, recreation facilities, libraries, arts and cultural organizations, parks, tourism organizations, transportation providers, and the municipality.
- Identify new community resources, services, activities, and opportunities that may benefit seniors.
- Locate, contact, and schedule guest speakers, instructors, community leaders, Librarians, Park Staff, Wardens, recreation professionals, and other program facilitators as required.
- Coordinate the Getting Around public transportation program, including working with local transportation providers and assisting seniors in learning how to safely navigate the public transportation system.
- Coordinate local provincial and national park trips, including transportation, scheduling, Park Staff/ Warden presentations, accessibility information, trail information, and participant communication.
- Coordinate the Talk to Your Local Librarian program, including guest speakers, library visits, library card registration, and introductions to library programs and digital resources.
- Coordinate Try It Outs recreational programs, including introductory opportunities such as pickleball, Aquafit, tennis, bowling, curling, and other activities identified through participant interest.
- Develop and coordinate the Access the Arts – “Art and About” Club, including group outings to musical, instrumental, dance, theatre, and other local arts and cultural performances.
- Work with community venues to identify and communicate available accessibility services and supports to participants.
- Assist participants in becoming familiar and comfortable with accessing community resources independently.
- Coordinate program bookings, registrations,



transportation, venues, instructors, speakers, supplies, and other logistical requirements.
- Communicate program details, schedules, locations, expectations, and changes to participants and partners.
- Create a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment for seniors participating in programs and activities.
- Identify potential barriers to participation, including transportation, mobility, accessibility, cost, and confidence, and work with partners to find appropriate solutions.
- Collect participant feedback and assist with program evaluation and reporting.
- Maintain accurate program records, attendance, partnership information, schedules, and other required documentation.
- Assist with the promotion and marketing of “Getting Out” Programs through appropriate communication channels.
- Represent the Active Lifestyle Center in a professional manner when working with community partners, businesses, municipal representatives, and other organizations.
- Assist with other programs, events, and activities of the Center as required.
- May be asked to assist with fundraisers, special events, and occasional weekend activities.

HOURS OF WORK

- Full-time, 8-month contract.
- Regular hours as determined by program requirements.
- Some evening and weekend work may be required for programs, events, performances, and community activities.
- Regular off-site work and travel within the community will be required.

- Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA).
- WHMIS applicable to the workplace.
- All Active Lifestyle Center policies and procedures.
- Any other Act or legislation applicable to the workplace.

Pay: $23.00-$24.00 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 – 20.0 per week
