Role Overview

We're looking for a Project Accountant to provide short-term coverage for approximately 6–7 weeks. This role keeps project accounting and day-to-day transaction processing running smoothly during the coverage period, with a robust focus on project-level cost accuracy and support for an ongoing ERP transition.

Key Responsibilities

Project accounting (primary focus): review and reconcile project-related invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor payments; work with project managers and operations to ensure accurate cost allocation and revenue recognition.

Accounting entries: post day-to-day transactions to the general ledger with accurate coding and supporting documentation; prepare journal entries and supporting schedules for month-end close under the direction of the Financial Controller.

ERP implementation support: participate in the transition to a new accounting/ERP system, including data entry, testing,



and adoption of new processes.

Invoicing: process customer invoicing, collections follow-up, and accounts receivable reconciliation.

Reconciliations & audit support: complete bank and credit card reconciliations, and prepayment/accrual schedules for month-end.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

- Post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 1-3+ years of experience in project accounting, full-cycle bookkeeping, or a similar role, ideally in construction, manufacturing, or a project-based industry
- Experience with an ERP or accounting system transition or implementation is an asset

Core Competencies:

- Comfortable working independently and picking up new systems quickly given the short engagement window
- Strong Excel skills and general accounting software proficiency
- Understanding of cost allocation, revenue recognition, and month-end close processes

Key Attributes: Detail-oriented, organized, and able to hit the ground running; strong communicator who can work closely with project managers, operations, and the Financial Controller; comfortable with change and process adoption during an ERP transition.
