Midwest is a pipeline construction contractor based in Spruce Grove, AB and serves the Oil & Gas Industry in Western Canada. Construction projects are executed in all types of terrain and conditions, and vary in diameter, length and complexity. Midwest’s focus is on safety, quality, and relationships with employees, clients, and vendors.

The Project Coordinator position is a temporary project-based term position working in field locations on pipeline construction projects. As a member of the Midwest Team, this position reports to the Project Manager.

The Project Coordinator will work with the Midwest Team in establishing the Company as a leader in the pipeline industry through execution excellence and building solid relationships at all levels of Project delivery.

Team Work and Relationships:

· Gain knowledge on pipeline construction techniques, project organization, and pipeline standards and specifications to be more efficient at work.

· Develop and maintain Client, Subcontractor, and Vendor relationships.

Safety Leadership:

· Support and promote a culture of safety performance throughout the organization.

· Focus on continuous safety improvement at the leadership and front line worker levels within the organization.





· Support innovation in safety award programs that engage field operations personnel.

Home Office Work (where required):

· Assist in the preparation of tender submissions including estimates, soliciting subcontractor and supplier quotations, schedule development, contract and specifications review, and preliminary execution planning.

· Develop preliminary project plans and project control measures in preparation for field execution.

· Update and continuously improve project planning templates.

Project Field Work:

· The direct supervisor in the field will be the Project Manager.

· Work with the Project Team in the planning and execution of the project.

· Develop site specific plans with the Project Team.

· Maintain the project schedule including updates as required.

· Provide support in the execution of work by visiting the work site on a regular basis, attending site and client meetings, and provide assistance in solving problem or issues.

· Assist in the coordination of subcontractors and vendors.

· Monitor project progress and performance on a daily basis, review and provide input when necessary on all financial forecasting and progress reports.

· Tracking and forecasting against the approved budgets.





· Actively participate in identifying any changes to the scope of work, schedule and cost.

· Assist with estimating current and additional costs

· Assist in the development of Requests for Information (RFI’s), participate in the preparation and approval of all extra work orders, ensure changes are tracked at the project level and quantified in a timely manner.

· Assist in the progress billing process.

Qualifications

· A recent graduate from a recognized Engineering Degree or Diploma program will be an ideal candidate

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office software

· Pivot Tables, Coding Formulas and Power-BI knowledge is an asset

· Familiarity with scheduling softwares such Primavera P6 and Tilos is an asset

· Excellent time management skills

· Ability to work well as an integral part of a project team

· Familiarity with Pipeline Construction processes and previous involvement in a pipeline construction project is an asset

· Available to work at the Project on a field rotation (6 x 1 schedule)

· Valid Class 5 driver’s license
