Epp Glass is a specialty glass company based in Ottawa, Ontario, specializing in custom shower enclosures, glass railings, and aluminum storefronts. We are a dedicated team committed to delivering high-quality glazing solutions to residential and commercial clients across the Ottawa region.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates for custom glass, shower enclosures, railing systems, and aluminum storefront projects based on client specifications and site conditions

Perform quantity take-offs and material calculations from architectural drawings, shop drawings, and CAD files

Conduct site visits and measurements to verify field conditions and gather data necessary for accurate project estimates

Analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes; solicit and compare bids to identify best-value options

Prepare and issue formal quotations and tender submissions to clients, contractors, and project managers

Coordinate with project managers, glaziers, and installers to ensure estimates align with production and installation capabilities

Maintain and update estimating databases, pricing records, and historical cost data

Review contracts and project specifications to identify scope, exclusions, and potential risks

Assist with project scheduling and resource planning based on awarded contracts

Liaise with clients, general contractors, and suppliers throughout the pre-construction and tendering phases

Prepare change order estimates and assist with value engineering exercises when required





Support continuous improvement of estimating processes and templates

Requirements

Education

Completion of a college diploma or university degree in civil engineering technology, construction management, architecture, or a related field; OR equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience

Minimum 1 year of experience in construction estimating, quantity surveying, or a related field

Experience in the glazing, fenestration, or specialty construction industry is an asset

Skills and Knowledge

Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and construction drawings

Strong mathematical and analytical skills for quantity take-offs and cost analysis

Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry pricing

Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting/design software is an asset

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team environment
