This is recreational programming work responsible for planning, developing, scheduling, coordinating, and implementing a variety of golf programs and services. The work involves hiring, training, assigning, scheduling and supervising program staff and contractors; establishing and maintaining liaison with community groups, the general public, industry partners and a variety of internal and external contacts; promoting and publicizing interest and participation in golf programs and services; and assisting in the preparation and monitoring of program budgets. An incumbent exercises considerable independence of judgement and action within the limits of established policies, procedures and guidelines. This position will plan and coordinate golf initiatives such as driving range programming, lesson programs, merchandise and promotional activities; requisition supplies, equipment and merchandise; prepare and maintain records, reports and correspondence related to the work. Performs related work as required.QualificationsQualifications include graduation from a community college in a related field,
preferably with coursework in golf management; or completion of recognized golf industry certifications such as PGA Canada plus related community college coursework; plus sound related experience including some supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of organized community recreation and sound knowledge of golf recreational interests, needs and resources of the community served; the policies, procedures, rules and regulations governing the work performed; and teaching methods and group leadership techniques related to the work. Ability to plan, develop, schedule, coordinate and implement golf programs and services which meet operational and customer service objectives; hire, train, assign, schedule, supervise and evaluate the work of staff and contractors; assist in monitoring program budgets and requisitioning supplies, equipment and merchandise; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; promote public interestand participation in programs and services; and present ideasand viewpoints effectively both verbally and in writing. A valid Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.
