RECE – Lunch Coverage & Support Staff (All Kids Belong)

Part time | Monday to Friday | 5.5 hours per day

Western Day Care Centre is seeking a caring, dependable and flexible Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our team in a combined Lunch Coverage and All Kids Belong (AKB) Support position.

This is a regular part-time position consisting of 5.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will provide lunch coverage for educators in our infant, toddler or preschool programs while also providing additional support within the Centre through the All Kids Belong program.

Applicants must be registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Provide lunch coverage for educators.
- Provide coverage in infant, toddler and preschool classrooms.
- Provide additional classroom support through the All Kids Belong (AKB) program.
- Support the inclusion, participation and well-being of children who may require additional support within the classroom environment.
- Follow individualized support plans, strategies, recommendations and supports for children, as applicable.
- Engage in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment by developing and facilitating child-directed activities and inquiries.
- Build positive, responsive relationships with children and support their individual needs, interests and development.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and coordinate educational activities.
- Support classroom routines, including meals, rest periods, toileting, transitions, indoor and outdoor play, and other daily activities.
- Maintain accurate records of children's sleep, meal intake and other relevant information.
- Complete required sleep safety checks every 15 minutes for infants or 30 minutes for toddlers and preschoolers.
- Assess and support child safety during transitions and routine times.




- Maintain active supervision and required staff-to-child ratios.
- Follow Western Day Care Centre policies and procedures and all applicable child care requirements.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when working with children, families and colleagues.

Required Qualifications
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check dated within the previous 6 months.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certificate.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom and engage children in learning.
- Patience, flexibility and adaptability when working with diverse child populations.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to move between classrooms and adapt to the changing needs of children and classroom teams.

Schedule Monday to Friday – 5.5 hours per day, 10:00-3:30

This position provides consistent part-time weekday hours. The specific daily schedule and assignment of duties will be based on the operational and program needs of the Centre. Hours are determined by centre needs and approved support.
