JOB TITLE: DIRECTOR, LABORATORY AND PATHOLOGYSTATUS: FULL TIMEDEPARTMENT: LABORATORYLOCATION: NIAGARA HEALTHHOURS OF WORK: 75 HOURS PER PAY PERIODUNION: NON UNIONWAGE RANGE: $175,359 to $206,317 annuallyYour Role:Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Practice, Clinical Support & Chief Nursing Officer, the Director, Laboratory and Pathology provides strategic and professional leadership to support the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care through cost-effective and sustainable approaches. This regional role oversees laboratory services across all Niagara Health sites and requires a proven change leader who collaborates with frontline teams, physician leaders, and senior leadership to advance continuous quality improvement, innovation, and safe care delivery. The Director also represents Niagara Health on external committees, partners regionally to meet and exceed Ontario's provincial standards for laboratory and pathology services, and provides key leadership in lab accreditation.Key Responsibilities:Provide system wide leadership for protected, high quality laboratory services across multiple sitesDevelop and execute the enterprise laboratory strategy aligned with organizational prioritiesLead site and program leaders to ensure standardized operations and service deliveryDrive performance through enterprise KPIs, quality systems, and continuous improvementEnsure compliance with all legislative, regulatory, and accreditation requirementsLead workforce planning and engagement in a multi union environmentLead operational readiness planning for laboratory for the new South Niagara HospitalSteward operating and capital resources, including budgets,
contracts, and technology investmentsOversee laboratory technology, LIS/EMR integration, and point of care testing governancePartner with physicians and leadership to advance integrated, cutting-edge careLead change initiatives and maintain strong regional, academic, and provincial partnershipsQualifications:Master's degree and active registration in good standing with a professional regulatory collegeClinical laboratory credentials (CMLTO registration) and completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program preferredMinimum 7-10 years of progressive senior leadership experience in complex, multi site healthcare environmentsProven financial leadership, including operating and capital budgeting, forecasting, and resource optimizationDemonstrated ability to lead large, unionized teams and foster an inclusive, high performing cultureStrong expertise in laboratory information systems, digital health, analytics, and performance managementProven change leader with experience in service redesign, technology implementation, and innovationExcellent communication, leadership, judgment, and decision making skillsThis position is an existing vacancy at Niagara Health.
