The ideal candidate is a warm and loving person who makes meaningful connections with those they are caring for.The Bookkeeperreports to the Executive Director and is expected to provide complete accounting of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Trust Fund and month-end related financial reporting, as well as various duties assigned by the Executive Director.WAGE RATE:The starting annual salary is $60,000.Vacancy:This is an existing vacancy.Responsibilities:Sets vision, goals and objectives for the department in line with the overall facility’s vision and strategic directions.Provide support on financial issues to the rest of the Management Team.Supports recruitment, orientation, retention, performance management.Demonstrates positive knowledge of Collective Agreements, Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act and all other relevant legislation.Prepares and participates in audits.Required to understand the nature and meaning of quality indicators.Required to participate in the improvement of the indicators and achieve satisfactory results.Accounting functions are completed accurately and on time including,



but not limited to:accounts receivable/accounts payablemanual/system cheques, PDScensus, rate reduction, Director’s discretion, exceptional circumstances, bank deposits, overdue accounts, PAPpayrollrecord of employment, T4 reporting, processing payroll in ADP WFN, StaffScheduleCare interface balancingemployee benefitspension and group RRSP, union dues, health and benefit plan, seniority listresident trustdeposit and disbursement, statement of accountpetty cashreconciliation and reimburseOther duties as assigned and or indicated in Job Task InventoryQualifications:The qualifications needed to join our family are as follows:Minimum education of Accounting/Business Administration diplomaMinimum of 2 years accounting experience to include (solid background of either accounts receivable or payroll): computerized payroll (preferably ADP WFN), accounts payable, accounts receivable, advantages administration.Experienced with unionized payrollRecent professional and skill development courses would be desirable.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.Ability to interpret Union contracts, policies and procedures.Ability to multitask and work independently.Well-developed interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to interact efficiently and courteously with residents, public, employees, and volunteers.Sense of responsibility, integrity,



and confidentiality.Ability to demonstrate care in use of supplies and equipment, and the ability to maintain a neat work area.Good organizational skillsA second language is an asset.To show evidence of being focused on people’s feelings when interacting and knowing how to turn a task into positive social interaction.To undertake and meet all legal requirements within a context of promoting individuals’ rights and measuring/reducing elements of risk.Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain oneAs a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of TB testing (within the last six months or within 14 days upon hire) or a chest X-ray (within the last year), as per Public Health requirementsTwo supervisory references are requiredProvide proof of all required vaccines.
