Brooker Ridge Animal Hospital in Newmarket, Ontario is hiring a Registered Veterinary Technician for a permanent, year-round paid role in our friendly, professional, client-facing veterinary clinic.

This is a hands-on RVT position in a busy small-animal clinic. The right applicant will be reliable, practical, confident with patient care, comfortable communicating with clients and coworkers, and able to support appointments, procedures, treatment flow, and daily clinic operations.

This role is best suited to an RVT with real paid veterinary clinic experience who can clearly describe the clinics where they worked, dates, average hours, and duties performed. We are looking for someone who can contribute consistently year-round, not someone seeking a temporary, summer-only, co-op, school-placement-only, or volunteer-placement role.

Schedule and availability

- This is a permanent, year-round role, not a summer-only or school-term placement.
- Applicants must be available for ongoing work beyond summer and school placement periods.
- Our clinic needs reliable coverage for scheduled shifts, including closing shifts until at least 7:30pm when required.

- Applicants who are only available during the day, only until 5:00pm, or only for short-term/summer hours are unlikely to be a fit for this role.

Responsibilities
- Provide RVT support for appointments, treatments, procedures, and patient care.
- Safely restrain and handle dogs and cats in a clinic setting.
- Collect blood samples, administer injections, and assist with diagnostics as directed.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures.
- Assist with surgery preparation, anesthesia/procedure monitoring, recovery, and patient comfort.
- Communicate professionally with clients and clinic team members.
- Maintain accurate patient-care communication and follow clinic protocols.
- Help maintain clean,



organized treatment, exam, surgical, and patient-care areas.
- Support reception and appointment flow when needed in a team-based clinic environment.

Requirements
- Registered Veterinary Technician credential, or clear RVT eligibility/status appropriate for Ontario veterinary practice.
- Paid veterinary clinic experience in a technician role.
- Comfortable drawing blood, giving injections, monitoring procedures, assisting with diagnostics, and supporting patient care.
- Able to commute reliably to Brooker Ridge Animal Hospital in Newmarket, Ontario in all seasons.
- Available for permanent, year-round work with reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Comfortable with cleaning, animal restraint, client communication, computer use, and hands-on clinic duties.
- Able to work calmly and professionally in a fast-paced clinic environment.

Preferred experience
- Small-animal clinic experience.
- Surgery, anesthesia/procedure monitoring, dentistry, laboratory, radiology, and appointment support experience.
- Strong client communication and front-desk/reception support skills.
- Experience working both independently and as part of a clinic team.
