King Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced, skilled, and detail-oriented Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our Anesthesia team. This is an ideal opportunity for an RVT who is passionate about anesthesia and analgesia, enjoys working with complex cases, and is looking to further develop their technical skills in a specialty referral and emergency setting.

King Animal Hospital is a privately owned, state-of-the-art equine and small animal referral and emergency hospital located in King City, Ontario. Our 60,000 sq. ft. facility offers advanced diagnostics, specialized veterinary medicine, and a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
As part of our Anesthesia team, you will work closely with experienced RVTs, veterinarians, and board-certified specialists in Anesthesia, Surgery, Critical Care, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, and more—gaining hands-on experience with a wide range of complex and rewarding cases.
The Role – Anesthesia RVT
As an Anesthesia RVT, you will play an important role in providing safe, individualized anesthetic and perioperative care to patients undergoing a variety of surgical, diagnostic, and specialty procedures.
Working closely with our Anesthesia and specialty teams, you will support patients throughout the entire anesthetic process—from preparation and induction through monitoring and recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with anesthetic planning, patient assessment, and preparation
- Prepare patients, medications, anesthesia equipment, and monitoring equipment for procedures
- Induce, monitor, and support the recovery of patients undergoing anesthesia and sedation
- Perform IV catheter placement, medication administration, fluid therapy, and other technical procedures within the RVT scope of practice
- Provide continuous patient monitoring using advanced equipment, including multiparameter monitoring, capnography, ECG, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, and temperature monitoring
- Recognize changes in patient condition and respond quickly and appropriately in collaboration with the veterinarian
- Support anesthesiologists, surgeons, and specialty teams throughout surgical and diagnostic procedures
- Assist with airway management, mechanical ventilation, and advanced anesthetic techniques as required
- Support multimodal pain management and patient comfort throughout the perioperative period
- Provide attentive post-anesthetic monitoring and nursing care during recovery
- Maintain accurate and detailed anesthesia records and medical documentation using EzyVet and VetRadar
- Ensure anesthesia machines, monitoring devices, and related equipment are properly maintained, cleaned, and prepared for use
- Follow established anesthesia, patient safety, and infection-prevention protocols
- Collaborate closely with RVTs, DVMs, specialists, and other members of the hospital team to support optimal patient outcomes
What We’re Looking For
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in positive standing with the OAVT
- Strong interest and/or experience in anesthesia, analgesia, and perioperative patient care
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a referral or emergency practice preferred
- Excellent patient monitoring, assessment, and technical skills
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain focused throughout complex procedures
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and adaptable in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills
- Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and maintaining high standards of patient safety
- Must be willing and available to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, based on hospital and departmental needs
