Under the direction of the Associate Director, Events and Facilities, the Manager, Events works collaboratively with representatives from a range of groups at the Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law to coordinate and oversee a variety of events and related activities. These include events hosted by academic areas, research centres, departments, student groups, partner organizations, and external clients, with audiences that may include students, faculty, staff, alumni, members of the business community, government representatives, and the media.The incumbent is responsible for overseeing Jackman Law's classroom and event space bookings, including conference facilities, meeting rooms, lounges, the Moot Court Room, and classrooms. The role serves as a primary contact for event and venue-related inquiries and works closely with faculty, staff, event conveners, vendors, and external clients to support the successful delivery of events, venue operations, and client services.The Manager, Events also provides day-to-day operational direction to staff supporting event operations, while contributing to process improvements, operational workflows, and initiatives related to event planning, space utilization, and service delivery.ResponsibilitiesActing as a primary contact for event and venue-related inquiriesCoordinating and overseeing a variety of events and related operational activitiesConceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities and venue operationsPromoting venues and event services to internal and external clientsOverseeing online room booking systems and related operational processesCoordinating event schedules, space bookings, and logistical requirementsLiaising with faculty, staff, vendors, and external clients to support successful event deliveryProviding day-to-day operational direction and guidance to casual, student,



and support staff involved in event operationsEssential QualificationsBachelor's degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experienceMinimum five years related experience in conceptualizing, organizing and executing events in a complex organization, preferably within a higher education or public sector environmentDemonstrated experience with full-cycle event planning for a high volume of events, including marketing, registration, and post-event evaluationDemonstrated experience with facilities and event coordination for a high volume of events, meetings, events and room bookingsDemonstrated experience with planning in-person, online, and hybrid eventsExperience writing and editing promotional copy for websites, social media, print materials, etc.Knowledge of, and experience in, scheduling and tracking the status of events and classroom activitiesExperience planning events in compliance with AODADemonstrated experience handling event expenses, collaborating on cost estimates, preparing financial summary reports, and monitoring program accountsDemonstrated supervisory experienceSuperior planning and project management skillsAbility to manage a high volume of competing priorities and deadlinesDemonstrated solid customer service skillsAdvanced Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc. as well as skill using database softwareFamiliarity with content management systems (e.G., WordPress)Proficiency with customer relationship management (CRM) or email marketing tools (e.G., Mail Chimp)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsAvailability to work overtime on weekdays, and occasional overtime on weekendsTo be successful in this role you will beCourteousDiplomaticMulti-taskerOrganizedProblem solverSelf-directedTactfulTeam playerJob Category: HospitalityUSW Pay Band 12 - $81,312, with an annual step progression to a maximum of $103,986.Lived Experience StatementCandidates who are members of Indigenous, Black, racialized and 2SLGBTQ+ communities, persons with disabilities, and other equity-deserving groups are encouraged, and their lived experience shall be taken into consideration as applicable to the posted position.#J-18808-Ljbffr
