We direct the management of the City’s fleet including the acquisition, maintenance and disposal of assets; along with the City’s industry‑leading Green Fleet Plan and fuel management infrastructure. The City of Toronto has the largest municipal fleet in Canada and one of the most complex Fleets in North America.Major ResponsibilitiesReceives driver reports, reviews and clarifies information for accuracyConducts preliminary assessment and generates repair orders in Fleet Management Information System (FMIS)Schedules work and monitors progress for preventative maintenance (PM), Periodic Mandatory Commercial Vehicle Inspection (PMCVI) program and other maintenance and repair requirementsMonitors outstanding jobs and determines priorities with Supervisor, reschedules work if necessarySends repairs out for Warranty or contracted services in consultation with SupervisorFollows up on units waiting for parts and/or labourContacts clients for scheduled,
completed or other repair work issuesChecks times and charges for accuracy and confirms with SupervisorPrepares daily reports including materials/equipment used, hours worked, quantities of work items completed and other relevant informationProcesses service calls including dispatching mechanics to conduct road repairsArranges for external services for vehicle repairMaintains, enters, edits, updates and completes work orders using the FMISKey QualificationsYour application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:Experience working in an automotive, truck and coach or fleet customer service setting.Extensive experience using relevant computer applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook) and FMIS such as Asset Works M5™ or equivalent shop management software.Experience providing high quality customer service with a strong focus on service delivery.Must possess and maintain a valid Province of Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence and qualify for the City’s drivers’ permit.You must also have:Excellent communications skills,
both verbal and written.Extensive knowledge of all aspects of maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment.Ability to multitask in a fast paced work environment and prioritize competing customer needs.Ability to support garage operations including but not limited to; ordering shop supplies,facilitating garage inspections, monitoring and restocking bulk supplies.Knowledge of and ability to make inquiries related to vehicle warranty terms, OEM warranty eligibility, part warranty terms and part core exchanges.Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with employees, management, the public and external service providers in a diverse and equitable work environment.Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety act and the applicable regulations.Must be eligible to qualify for the City’s equipment operating permit in accordance with the City’s Fleet Safety Policy.Must be willing and able to work various shifts, as required.A current Province of Ontario Class DZ Driver’s Licence is considered an asset.
