Associate Deputy Minister / Chief Executive Assessment Officer - (123562)The Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) is a stand‑alone, neutrally administered regulator required by law to conduct rigorous reviews of major projects in British Columbia, including some of the largest industrial projects in Canada. The environmental assessment process requires thorough assessment of any potential environmental, economic, social, cultural, and health effects. The EAO is part of the Ministry of Environment and Parks, responsible for protection, management, and conservation of B.C.’s water, land, air, and living resources, and supporting reconciliation with First Nations is a key purpose.As Associate Deputy Minister and Chief Executive Assessment Officer, you will support ministers who are statutory decision‑makers on environmental assessment certificate decisions. Your role will provide leadership and strategic direction in the independent administration of the Environmental Assessment Act, build relationships with diverse internal and external groups,
and oversee the development of service standards that meet client needs within government policy and resources.The ideal candidate is a senior manager or executive with significant leadership experience, a model of accountability, innovation, and resilience, and exceptional communication skills. You thrive in complex environments with competing priorities and diverse partnership demands, trustworthiness, high integrity, and experience building respectful relationships with First Nations leaders to support effective partnership.Minimum qualifications include senior‑level management or executive experience and proven ability to lead teams, manage resources, and build complex stakeholder partnerships.The BC Public Service is committed to creating a diverse workplace to reflect the population we serve and to better meet the needs of our citizens.Job Summary: Mission – lead and manage the Environmental Assessment Office as part of the Ministry of Setting and Parks.
