Overview

Located in Truro, Dairy Farmers of Nova Scotia (DFNS) is a producer-funded organization that administers the purchase, sale and transport of all milk produced in Nova Scotia. In doing so, it licenses producers and milk transporters and administers the production quota system. It has delegated authority to oversee many regulations created under the Dairy Act.

DFNS has approximately 185 members located on farms from Cape Breton to Yarmouth. Together, they produce over 220 million litres of high-quality milk each year with a farm gate value of $256 million.

Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, the School Milk Program Liaison will facilitate improvements and increased participation in the school milk program.

Key Responsibilities

- Promote the School Milk Program to increase the number of schools enrolled and consumption levels.
- Develop relationships with schools and regional centres for education staff.
- Work with processors, retailers and suppliers to ease the process of getting milk to students.
- Participate in the School Milk Program Working Group, keeping an open dialogue between DFNS, the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development & Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture.




- Troubleshoot school-level issues such as storage, delivery and ordering processes.
- Identify areas for improvement and make recommendations.
- Develop support materials for successful program implementation.
- Develop incentives to encourage participation in the school milk program.
- Develop classroom materials to promote the program & milk consumption.
- Monitor the program’s budget and maximize cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

- Strong public speaking skills to effectively communicate program goals and advantages.
- Experience in program administration and development.
- Experience in marketing, sales and customer support.
- Familiarity with Department of Education and Early Childhood Development policies and procedures.
- Degree in Marketing, Communications or other relevant combination of education and experience.
- Ability to travel throughout the province; reliable personal transportation.

Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 per week
