Security Guard - Full Time - Burlington Centre

Site Overview: Burlington Centre is a premier shopping destination. Security personnel play a key role in ensuring safety, providing customer assistance, monitoring activities, and responding to incidents to uphold a positive and safe shopping experience.

Position: Security Guard

Site: Burlington Centre

Hours: Continental Days

Payrate: $22.50/hr.

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is AA over 88 hours

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Support the Site Supervisor with daily security operations and staff supervision.
- Assume site responsibility when the Site Supervisor is off duty.
- Act as the main contact for mall management, security staff, and emergency services.
- Report concerns, incidents, and operational issues promptly to management.
- Ensure guards are properly positioned and follow post orders, patrols, and procedures.
- Monitor compliance with mall rules, property standards, and applicable legislation.
- Lead or assist with shift briefings and staff updates.
- Respond to thefts, disturbances, medical emergencies, fire alarms, and other incidents.
- Conduct property patrols, including parking and service areas, to maintain safety and security.
- Ensure incident reports are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
- Monitor CCTV and access control systems for suspicious or unusual activity.
- Coach security staff and promote professionalism and excellent customer service.
- Assist with Fire & Life Safety inspections, alarm testing, and evacuation drills.
- Support access control, line management, and crowd control during events and peak periods.




- Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor or management.

Qualifications:

- Minimum 2 years of prior security experience.
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
- Must hold a valid G-Class driver’s license with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience and able to provide clean driver’s abstract/record covering the past 3 years.
- Must be comfortable with a dashboard camera recording device installed and operating in the company vehicle at all times.
- Legally authorized to work full-time in Canada.
- Able and willing to stand, walk, and patrol (on foot or by vehicle) for extended periods.
- Robust verbal and written communication skills & decision making skills
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, both indoors and outdoors.
- Comfortable working in fast paced environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, able to work effectively in a team setting.
- Must provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB). Applicants without these certifications can opt into Paladin’s UOF/MOAB training before onboarding.

Please note: UOF/MOAB training is unpaid as it is a pre-employment requirement. Paladin covers all training costs with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability.
