Security Technician Helper

Role Summary:
Our GTA branch is currently looking for a Security Technician Helper to join the team. This entry-level position will be responsible for assisting Technicians with renovation/installation/inspections and maintaining security systems such as intrusion alarms, access control and CCTV systems, installed at our customer site(s).
This role will work under the supervision of experienced technicians, gaining hands-on training across the installation function. This role offers a clear pathway to growing and gaining experience to becoming a full Security Technician, with opportunities to advance within the company. This is an existing vacancy.
Job Responsibilities:
· Assist technician(s) in installing and programming CCTV, access control, and intrusion systems.
· Support running cable/wire, mounting devices, and setting up less complex systems.
· Observe and learn system testing, commissioning,
and networking requirements.
· Collaborate with team members and sub-contractors to ensure projects are completed accurately.
· Shadow technicians during inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of alarm systems.
· Assist Technician(s) with system testing and documenting service results
· Learn how to educate customers on operating their security systems.
· Gain exposure to ULC Inspections for fire and intrusion systems.
· Stay current with evolving security technologies through on the job training and development opportunities.
Job Requirements:
· High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
· Relevant certifications or technical coursework an asset (Electronic Technician Certificate, Networking, etc).
· Must have a desire to pursue a career in or have a general interest in Security Alarm Technician work.
· Must have a technical aptitude and solid interest in security, electronics, or IT/networking.
· Basic understanding of electrical/electronic circuits and PC-based applications.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Must be available for all hours of work including overtime.
· Must have a valid Provincial Driver’s License.
· Must have a means of transportation to get to and from work and/or to customer job site.
More about the position:
· General knowledge of Electronics and general use of hand and power tools.
· General computer knowledge and skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
· Excellent problem-solving skills.
· Highly organized and able to work under pressure.
· Adaptable to changing environments and eager to learn
· Self-motivated with a positive outlook.
· Strong interpersonal skills and effective at building relationships - with a strong client service orientation.
· Ability to occasionally lift/carry heavy loads.
· The ideal candidate should be working towards completing basics of electronics/electricity courses or equivalent industry knowledge.

· Starting Hourly Rate: $20.00-$21.00 per hour
