Role: Senior AS/400 Developer

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced AS/400 (IBM i) Developer to join our technology team in Ontario, Canada. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with AS/400 application development and maintenance, along with exposure to React.js, Microsoft Azure DevOps, and Agile methodologies.

The successful candidate will work closely with business analysts, developers, QA teams, and other stakeholders to design, develop, enhance, and support business-critical applications.

Required Skills:

- Strong hands-on experience with AS/400 / IBM i development.
- Experience with RPG/RPGLE, CL/CLLE, and DB2 on the AS/400 platform.
- Strong understanding of AS/400 application architecture, development, debugging, and production support.
- Experience working with React.js and modern web application technologies.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps, including Boards, Repositories, Pipelines, and release management.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and processes.
- Experience participating in Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams in an Agile development environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop, maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot applications running on the AS/400 / IBM i platform.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.




- Develop and maintain RPG/RPGLE and CL programs.
- Work with DB2 databases and SQL for application development and data processing.
- Integrate legacy AS/400 applications with modern web applications and services.
- Develop and maintain user interfaces using React.js where required.
- Use Azure DevOps for source control, work-item tracking, build/release pipelines, and deployment activities.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and follow established Agile development processes.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, QA, Architects, Product Owners, and other development teams.
- Perform application debugging, root-cause analysis, performance tuning, and production support.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and documentation activities.
- Ensure development follows established coding, security, quality, and DevOps standards.

Preferred Experience

- 7+ years of experience in AS/400 / IBM i development.
- Strong RPG/RPGLE and DB2 experience.
- Experience modernizing or integrating legacy AS/400 applications with web technologies.
- Experience with React.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, REST APIs, or similar technologies.
- Experience working with Azure DevOps in an enterprise setting.
- Experience working in large-scale Agile/Scrum teams.
- Previous experience in the Canadian/Ontario technology environment is an asset.
