We offer a dynamic workplace culture, along with a competitive salary, excellent benefit package, a defined benefit pension plan, paid vacation, paid personal leave days and discounted transportation on our bus and passenger rail services.Accountability StatementRailway Car Technicians inspect, maintain, repair, and remanufacture railway passenger cars, freight cars and their components.Major Duties & ResponsibilitiesInspects, troubleshoots, repairs and tests rail car equipmentPerforms preventative maintenance workWorks from blueprintsUses hand tools and various testing devices and instrumentsOperates equipment such as overhead or mobile cranes and forklifts to assist with assignmentsAdapts to new methods, processes,



material and equipmentFollows prescribed safety procedures including the use of safety clothing and equipmentMay work various shifts and on weekends and some work outdoors in adverse weatherRequirementsHigh School Diploma (OSSD) or General Education Diploma (GED)Certificate of Qualification as Railway Car Technician 268R or within final year of apprenticeship in the same identified tradeMust be mechanically inclinedAvailable for shift workDemonstrated ability to work in a team environmentKnowledge of safety codes and has demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious mannerAbility to work outside in all weather conditions and walk on rough terrainGood interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written)Commitment to Health and SafetyMust have a valid driver’s licenseEquity and Accessibility StatementAt Ontario Northland, we are committed to employment equity.
