MTO is recruiting a number of Senior Engineers to support construction of Highway 69 between Parry Sound and Sudbury. Highway 69 is a transformative transportation project that is enhancing one of Ontario's most important trade and travel corridors.

The remaining four-laning work presents exciting engineering challenges, including major interchange construction, current bridges, innovative contract delivery approaches, and environmentally sensitive design solutions. About the job

In this position, you will:

- Manage a variety of planning, preliminary and / or detailed-design highway improvement projects, delivered by both in-house and outsourced resources
- Liaise and work with ministry staff, senior management, internal stakeholders, external agencies, municipalities, developers, consultants and the public
- Lead / coordinate project teams
- Direct and supervise assigned staff.
- Acquire, administer and evaluate engineering service providers.
- Lead public consultation programs.
- Resolve planning and engineering issues

Please note that there are four positions being offered: one permanent position and one temporary 12-month position located at 447 McKeown Avenue in North Bay for the Project Delivery Northeast Office, and two permanent positions where the successful candidate may work out of one of the following office locations for the Highway 69 Delivery Office:
- 437 McKeown Avenue in North Bay;
- 3767 Highway 69 South in Sudbury;
- 704024 Rockley Road, Temiskaming Shores in Current Liskeard; or
- 207 Main Street West in Huntsville.

What you bring to the team

Mandatory

- You are a Qualified Engineer,



licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
- The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G driver's licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.

Project Management and Leadership Skills:

- You have project management skills to manage projects, including acquisition and management of consultants.
- You have well-developed leadership skills to assign and schedule work

Interpersonal, Relationship-Building and Communication Skills:

- You have proven oral and written communications skills to write reports and present proposals, recommendations and provide expert evidence.
- You have proven effective interpersonal and relationship management skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, senior officials and the public.

Technical Knowledge:

- You have thorough knowledge of theories, principles and practices of civil engineering related to highway engineering
- You have working knowledge of related fields including geotechnical, pavement design, structural, drainage, surveys, electrical, traffic, construction practices
- You have knowledge of alternative delivery methods, such as functional outsourcing, Total Project Management and Design Build

Analytical, Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Skills:

- You have sound analytical skills and good judgement to assess and recommend solutions to problems in terms of applicable legislation, engineering quality, economic benefit and environmental impact.
- You have demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
