As a faith‑and values‑based organization, we hire and serve people of all backgrounds and walks of life – there is a place for everyone to belong here.Mission StatementThe Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.Job DescriptionAccountabilities:Perform repairs and maintenance as requested or assigned by the Maintenance Coordinator & Environmental Services Manager.Inspect the property and building for signs of damage and report to the Maintenance Coordinator & Environmental Services Manager.Maintain daily cleanliness of the surrounding property by removing refuse or debris, seasonally shovel and salt walkways as needed and requested.Assist Maintenance Coordinator as assigned by Environmental Services Manager.Make suggestions to improve efficiency, working conditions or procedures to the Environmental Services Manager.Ensure all duties assigned to shift are completed.Health and SafetyWork in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.Work closely with security, identifying any safety and security needs.Use personal prescribed safety equipment and clothing as directed by the employer, report hazards, injuries or illness.Follow through on all safety and security procedures,



including fire.Monitor and report regularly any concern regarding adherence to acceptable health standards and maintenance of the property.Perform other position‑related duties as required.Critical Relationship ManagementInternal: Work cooperatively with staff from various Centre of Hope departments; participate in regular staff meetings to review operational effectiveness, changes in policies and procedures, and in‑service training.External: Community, clients.Managerial / Technical Leadership ResponsibilityThis position reports directly to the Environmental Services Manager or designate.The Maintenance Worker receives work assignments from the Maintenance Coordinator.Working ConditionsSupervisor sets hours of work and schedule.Some travel required.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.Normal hours Monday to Friday 8:00am–4:00pm, ½ hour paid meal break.Location: 281 Wellington Street, London, ON N6B2L4.Education, Qualifications and CertificationsMinimum Secondary School Diploma.Additional training in Facility Services preferred.Knowledge of building systems preferred.Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's license and current driver’s abstract.Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention or valid First Aid considered an asset.Background Check with vulnerable sector screening required.Experience and Skilled Knowledge RequirementsMinimum one year prior related experience with maintenance procedures and equipment.Demonstrated maintenance skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting.Capability to operate hand and power tools.Understand and support the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army.Skills and CapabilitiesJudgment and decision‑making.Excellent organizational skills, ability to follow detailed instructions.Maintain successful working relationships; deal with people pleasantly and professionally.Solid oral and written communication.Self‑motivated and disciplined.Maintain confidentiality regarding clientele and coworkers.CompensationThe target hiring range for this position is $19.23 to $20.27 per hour, with a maximum of $21.30.
