Our client, a growing player in the mining sector, is seeking a highly analytical and collaborative Senior Financial Analyst to join their corporate finance team in Toronto for a 12-month contract.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in consolidated corporate reporting, technical accounting, and process optimization across mining operations. This is an exceptional opportunity for a designated CPA who excels at complex financial accounting, technical IFRS standards, and cross-functional leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare and review consolidated quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A;, and footnote disclosures in accordance with IFRS.
- Prepare routine and complex non-routine journal entries and reconciliations, including accounting for asset retirement obligations (AROs), inventory valuation, and mine development/capitalization costs.
- Maintain internal control frameworks (NI 52-109 / SOX equivalent) across corporate and site operations, serving as a primary liaison for external auditors.
- Partner with operational and site finance teams to analyze financial performance, explaining variance drivers across mine sites, commodity impact, and capital expenditures to key executive stakeholders.
- Lead research and practical application of emerging IFRS standards impact-specific to the mining industry (e.g., IFRS 6, IAS 36 impairment testing, IAS 37 provisions).

- Re-engineer reporting workflows, streamline month-end close processes, and leverage ERP/EPM tools to drive automation and eliminate manual errors.
- Facilitate initiatives with site accounting, legal, investor relations, and operational teams to drive accountability and hit critical project milestones.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance.
- CPA designation is required.
- 5+ years of progressive financial reporting and analysis experience; direct exposure to the mining, metals, or natural resources sector (public company workplace) is strongly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of IFRS and public disclosure rules in Canada (including extractive industry accounting nuances such as exploration/evaluation assets, AROs, and joint ventures).
- Advanced Excel capabilities and hands-on experience with enterprise financial software and consolidation systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, OneStream).
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex financial and technical concepts to non-finance operational partners.

If you are qualified and interested in this contract opportunity, please submit your resume in Word format to Michelle Campanaro, CPA at [email protected].
