They are vibrant local markets that bring our values to life every day.About the RoleWe’re looking for aPayroll Managerto lead our payroll function. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while delivering an exceptional employee experience.The ideal candidate is a team-oriented and proactive payroll professional with strong analytical skills, a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment. This position works closely with Finance, Human Resources and internal stakeholders to support organizational goals, maintain compliance, and drive operational excellence.What You’ll DoProcess full-cycle payroll and benefits administration for multiple entities and work locations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.Review and approve payroll entries, uploads, reconciliations, and payroll-related expenses to ensure accuracy and compliance.Serve as the primary payroll systems expert of the Company’s HCM/payroll platform.Act as the subject matter expert for payroll, benefits, taxation, and regulatory compliance matters.Participate in company-wide payroll initiatives,



process improvements, system updates, and employee communications.Partner with internal stakeholders to provide payroll and benefits reporting, analysis, and insights that support business decision-making.Ensure adherence to company policies, employment standards, and applicable federal and provincial payroll legislation.Collaborate closely with the Finance team to ensure payroll data integrity, accurate reporting, and effective internal controls.Maintain current knowledge of payroll legislation and requirements across all provinces where employees reside.Manage or participate in payroll-related audits, government remittances, and inquiries, including those involving the CRA and other regulatory bodies.Perform additional duties as required.What You BringMinimum of five years of experience independently processing payroll in British Columbia and Alberta. Lead or management experience is preferred.PCP designation is preferred.Experience using UKG and/or Kronos is an asset.Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, including provincial employment standards, statutory remittances, and payroll compliance requirements.Solid understanding of payroll-related accounting processes, including reconciliations, accounts payable, and general ledger integrations.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting,



and reconciliation functions.Exceptional organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment while managing competing priorities and deadlines.Why You’ll Love Working HereAt Spud, you’ll be part of a passionate, purpose-driven team that believes great work and great impact go hand in hand.
