This is not your typical security role. You will be embedded in a healthcare environment where your decisions directly affect patient safety, staff wellbeing, and how a hospital functions under pressure.Whether you are starting your career, changing direction, or bringing experience from policing, healthcare, or emergency services, this role meets you where you are.What You Will Actually DoPatient SafetyProvide one-to-one patient watch for high-risk individualsObserve and monitor patients, reporting behavioural changes to clinical staffLocate and assist missing or wandering patientsMaintain accurate patient census informationSupport Safe Walk and Safe Drive programsProvide officer presence and assistance for special duty assignmentsEmergency Department and Behavioural ResponseRespond to Code White and emergency assistance callsDe-escalate violent, aggressive, or emotionally distressed individualsPhysically intervene and restrain combative patients when required and authorizedProvide back-up assistance to police, protective services, and other first respondersFacility SecurityPatrol hospital grounds and buildings to deter theft, vandalism, and unauthorized accessMonitor security cameras and observe for suspicious activitySecure entrances, offices, restricted areas, and lock‑up areasEnsure safety of hospital and outlying buildingsManage key control procedures and lock/unlock schedulesEnforce parking regulations and controlConduct daily and pre‑landing inspections of heliportIncident Response and EnforcementRespond to all emergencies across the facilityApprehend and detain individuals where authorizedRemove, document, and catalogue contraband and dangerous weaponsEscort individuals off hospital property when requiredReport incidents to police, agency, and/or department as requiredCall emergency codes and support the hospital Emergency Preparedness PlanHospital Operations SupportAssist with morgue intake and release proceduresComplete maintenance requisitionsIssue parking passes, tickets, lockers,



and keysMonitor fire systems and inspect fire equipmentManage lost and found property and maintain documentationDocumentation and CollaborationComplete detailed incident reports and patient activity logsSubmit daily activity logs as requiredLiaise with police, fire, EMS, and community partnersDevelop and maintain partnerships with clinical teams through continuous collaborationPerform photo identification checksWork with SHA to review and implement coroner recommendations when applicableFamiliarise and orient new officers to the work workplace and processesWhat you need to know before you applyThis role involves direct contact with people in crisis. You will encounter individuals experiencing mental health emergencies, substance use, and medical distress. You will witness things that are difficult. Take ownership of high‑risk patient watch assignments, manage complex behavioural incidents, and mentor junior officers.Tier 3 — Healthcare SupervisorLead the team.
