Clarity Recruitment
Mississauga
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Mississauga, ON (On-Site, 5 days)
Salary: $160,000–$175,000
Industry: Manufacturing
Position Type: Backfill
About the Opportunity
Our client is a private manufacturing organization based in Mississauga.
This Senior
Manager, FP&A; role reports directly to the VP Finance and exists to give the business real analytical horsepower behind its manufacturing economics. You'll own rolling forecasting, product costing and margin analysis, capital investment evaluation, and the weekly and monthly reporting packages that go to ownership and the board. You'll have one direct report and deep support from a strong costing resource who knows the product portfolio in detail.
The distinguishing feature of this role is proximity to the business. You'll sit in commercial meetings when quotes are being priced, walk the production floor, and be close enough to operations and supply chain that when a customer's volume shifts in the forecast, you already know why. The VP Finance is explicit that the person who succeeds here is business-minded before accounting-minded, curious to the point of stubbornness, and comfortable challenging assumptions in front of non-finance stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain rolling forecast models incorporating volume, labor, materials, overhead absorption, and capacity utilization
- Own product costing and margin analysis, including deep dives into volume and mix variances reported weekly and monthly to ownership
- Translate standard versus actual variances into clear, credible explanations for non-finance stakeholders
- Analyze standard cost versus actual profitability on customer programs and guide the commercial team on pricing and contract terms
- Monitor capacity utilization, throughput,
and fixed cost absorption; flag underutilization and bottleneck risk before it hits the P&L;
- Evaluate capital expenditure requests (equipment, tooling, automation) through ROI and payback analysis, with post-investment reviews
- Partner with operations and supply chain on labor optimization, productivity initiatives, and process improvement
- Partner with supply chain on raw material cost trends, inventory levels, and their impact on working capital and margin
- Build and deliver weekly flash reporting and board-ready monthly reporting packages, with a focus on accuracy and clear narrative
- Design and roll out the annual budget and rolling forecast framework, accounting for the realities of forecasting in a contract manufacturing environment
- Identify and execute cost savings, waste reduction, and inventory management initiatives
- Support the Senior Director of Finance on internal controls monitoring, including labor tracking and work order reconciliation
- Manage, mentor, and develop one direct report, and drive standardization of reporting and modelling practices
What You Bring
- 7 years of progressive FP&A; or corporate finance experience, with significant exposure to a manufacturing environment
- Strong command of standard costing, cost accounting, variance analysis, and overhead absorption
- 2 years managing or mentoring a team, whether through direct reports or sustained oversight of a cross-functional group
- Proven business partnering with operations, supply chain, and commercial teams, with a track record of getting out from behind the desk and onto the floor
- Ability to translate operational metrics (labor hours, yield, scrap, capacity) into financial outcomes
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
- Experience with a major manufacturing ERP (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent)
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
Nice to Have
- CPA or MBA
- CPG, food, or other thin-margin manufacturing background
- Contract manufacturing or co-manufacturing experience
- Exposure to M&A; or sale process support
- Adaptive Insights or comparable planning tool experience
