The City of Red Deer is seeking a dedicated Parks Labourer 1 to support biodiversity initiatives in urban forestry and wildfire mitigation. Ideal candidates will thrive in a team environment while handling various outdoor duties.

This temporary, full time role requires hands-on experience related to biodiversity operations and a strong work ethic. As a Parks Labourer 1, you will assist with wildfire mitigation, tree planting, and urban encampment biohazard control. Skills in using chainsaws and horticultural tools are essential, as work will be conducted in all weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform wildfire mitigation in urban forests
• Operate chainsaws and wood chippers safely
• Conduct pre-use inspections and minor maintenance




• Provide customer service and operational support
• Follow health and safety protocols

Requirements:
• Grade 10 education plus six months of labour experience
• Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
• Familiarity with pruning and chainsaw operations
• Knowledge of wildfire mitigation principles
• Ability to work outdoors and in challenging terrain
