Make a difference
We are looking for a collaborative Business Systems Administrator to co-ordinate and administer the changes, additions and modifications to Toronto Community Housing business systems including Housing Management Enterprise System (HoMESYardi) and future systems. In this role, you will assist in the analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance activities in relation to infrastructure and applications initiatives in an effort to support our tenant-focused culture.

What you’ll do

Tracks and documents all system deficiencies by gathering information from other Information & Technology Services (ITS) staff and client areas

Reviews and documents requests for changes to existing systems received from clients

Recommends and receives instructions on appropriate modifications to business systems

Liaises with other ITS staff to determine impacts of requested changes, i.e. impact on technology infrastructure and standards, operational impact and costs

Provides project leadership and oversees the work of vendors, developing project schedules

Administers contracts, assessing feasibility and usability of vendor systems design and implementation plans

Identifies and resolves project/application problems and issues and ensures that contract/deliverables requirements are satisfied and specifications are met prior to payment approval

Acts as facilitator and primary resource on all system changes, ensuring appropriate resources are available, timelines are documented and followed and that plans are communicated to appropriate personnel including ITS staff, clients and vendors

Tracks progress of business systems change projects

Investigates and tracks project issues such as technical problems, delays, changes in project scope and budget overruns; facilitates solutions to expedite progress; compiles status reports for Manager





Liaises regularly with clients to maintain current knowledge of business needs and business systems issues; assisting clients in identifying how IT can assist with business processes

Maintains regular liaison with other ITS units, attending their meetings and discussing issues and developments, e.g. technological advances, changing client needs, integration issues

Researches business systems development issues and advances, new software and methodologies; assesses their applicability and opportunity value for TCHC and their potential for improving TCHC business processes; provides information and recommendations to Manager and ITS staff

Ensures that proper testing methodology is followed for all systems implementation, changes and enhancements for individual systems components and overall systems integration, ensuring that test results are reviewed and evaluated and that errors and deficiencies are corrected

Participates in post-implementation reviews and resolution of problems

Ensures that client operation manuals are prepared and maintained

Assists with and ensures that appropriate training programs are developed to meet client requirements for business systems in consultation with Training and Development staff

Assists in the identification, analysis and rationalization of information and/or process automation requirements for TCHC clients

Assists with feasibility studies to clarify objectives and determine feasibility of alternatives; performs cost/benefit analyses of alternatives

Prepares detailed specifications and designs for custom application components for new or enhanced business applications

Conducts appropriate testing

Creates user training material and delivers training

Performs application maintenance activities

Assists in resolving production environment related problems

Develops and maintains accurate systems documentation

Performs other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

Knowledge of systems analysis, design, development and implementation techniques and current information technologies in order to coordinate systems modifications and enhancements

Knowledge of and experience in project management methodologies and related skills to plan implementation and maintenance projects and to coordinate the work of external vendors/consultants

Knowledge of IT standards, computer systems, computing environments and client business processes/ requirements in order to assess need for modifications and ensure its consistency with long/short terms business needs and IT plans

Knowledge of and experience in vendor management and contract administration practices in order to manage vendor services and contracts

Knowledge and support experience of TCHC core systems, namely HoMESYardi





Knowledge of current programming languages and techniques and applications development tools to assist with systems analysis and support

Ability to prepare cost/benefit analyses and feasibility reports

Analytical and problem solving skills to determine appropriate modifications to business systems and identify solutions to complex operational and implementation issues

Communications skills to consult with clients regarding system modifications, provide information and guidance to vendors, and prepare comprehensive reports regarding system deficiencies/enhancements/ modifications
