Position Overview

Justice Technology Services (JTS) is seeking a Senior Software Developer with 10+ years of software development experience to support its Corrections Systems Portfolio.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, coding, unit testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and break/fix support of enterprise web and desktop applications.

The role involves translating business requirements and functional specifications into secure, scalable, reliable, and fully tested applications using Microsoft Azure, .NET, C#, MVC, Entity Framework, ReactJS, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Azure DevOps, Azure Web Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, and Azure SQL/SQL Server.

The developer will contribute to the integration of risk assessment applications with the Offender Tracking Information System (OTIS) and help deliver an integrated risk assessment platform supporting Ontario's correctional system.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, enhance, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise web and desktop applications.

- Translate business requirements and functional specifications into working, tested software solutions.

- Perform coding, unit testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and break/fix support.

- Develop secure, stable, scalable, and high-performing applications using Microsoft Azure and .NET technologies.

- Design and implement full lifecycle application solutions using C#, MVC, Entity Framework, ReactJS, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and Azure services.

- Develop and maintain solutions using:
- Azure Web Apps

- Develop and maintain DevOps CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing, and deployment.

- Participate in code reviews and establish best practices for local development and testing.

- Design, build, model, configure, tune, and maintain database management systems.

- Develop database backup and restore procedures.

- Support user administration procedures, including Azure AD.

- Perform database tuning, maintenance, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and forecasting.

- Support data masking processes for production-to-test data replication.

- Perform data migration activities.

- Assist development teams with database and data design activities.

- Apply web accessibility, architectural, security, and development best practices.

- Work within an Agile software development setting.





- Analyze complex application/system issues and develop effective technical solutions with minimal business impact.

- Work collaboratively with technical teams and business stakeholders.

- Research emerging technologies and techniques and contribute to experimentation and technical improvements.

- Maintain appropriate technical documentation and ensure code and documentation are stored in the JTS repository.

- Participate in knowledge transfer activities with the designated FTE throughout the assignment.

- Experience with capacity planning, performance monitoring, and production/test data masking.
