The Opportunity

As a valued member of the Finance team, the Senior Tax Analyst supports the Company's financial reporting, accounting and taxation functions. This role contributes to monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting processes, account reconciliations, technical accounting and taxation analyses, and compliance activities.



The successful candidate will work with internal and external stakeholders to support financial reporting and taxation compliance requirements while providing financial and taxation expertise across the organization.

Key Responsibilities include:

- Prepare and support financial reporting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, analyses and supporting documentation.
- Prepare and file the Company's corporate income tax returns, GST/HST returns, rebate applications and other taxation filings, including supporting schedules and instalment calculations, ensuring compliance with applicable legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare income tax provisions and related financial statement disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Conduct accounting and taxation research, monitor legislative and regulatory developments, and evaluate their impact on the Company's financial reporting, compliance and business activities.
- Coordinate and respond to tax audits, reviews and information requests, and act as a liaison with taxation authorities, external tax advisors, auditors, parent company representatives and other stakeholders on taxation, financial reporting and compliance matters.
- Provide taxation and financial expertise across the organization through research, analysis, problem-solving and recommendations that support financial reporting and compliance activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Your qualifications include:

- Post-secondary university degree in Business, Commerce, Finance or a related field.




- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in corporate taxation, tax accounting, financial reporting or a combination thereof.
- Completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Course would be considered an asset.
- Experience preparing corporate income tax returns, GST/HST filings and income tax provisions, including knowledge of Canadian taxation legislation and U.S. GAAP financial reporting.
- Utility industry experience would be considered an asset.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret tax legislation and assess business impacts.
- Time management skills including the ability to manage tight deadlines and competing priorities.
- Strong computer skills with advanced Excel proficiency.
- Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
