The **Chief Power Engineer** is responsible for leading the operation and maintenance of the Steam plant and refrigeration plant operations of Agropur’s Bedford facility.**Skills requirements:*** 3RD Class Power engineer Certificate and 1st class refrigeration plant operator Certificate;* Millwright certificate would be considered an asset;* Strong Mechanical aptitude and trouble shooting skills;* Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the Power engineering field;* Minimum of 2 years of experience leading a team;* Proven track record of delivery and change management in a complex manufacturing site.**Employee Benefits:*** Recognition of years of service in calculating vacation time;* Flexible group insurance plan, including telemedicine service;* Employee assistance program;* Opportunity to invest in you (Career Path, etc.);* Pension plan including employer contributions.**Job description:*** Collaboration with the Production Planning Team to supply all required Utilities to the production floor to meet short term production schedule and medium-term production plan;* Effectively execute the operations plan for a 24-hour, 7 day a week operation;* Manage Power and Refrigeration effectively to ensure operational effectiveness, machinery reliability, sustainable cost competitiveness and customer service;* Ensure that Power and refrigeration department are consistently maintained and operated according to Nova Scotia Power Engineering Act;* Ensuring to comply with safety, quality,



environmental and relevant manufacturing standards;* Foster a safety culture participating in major programs LOTO, WAH, Confined space etc. Participate in accident/ incident investigations;* Deliver short term and long term KPI’s related to QCDSME;* Manage a small team across all shifts including headcount planning, resource allocation and discipline;* Implement lean manufacturing techniques to drive continuous improvement, zero down time and increase machinery reliability;* Lead the implementation of CMMS maintenance program for the site;* Collaborate with Operation teams and pillar owners to deliver the sites lean manufacturing roadmap;* Effectively lead and motivate a team through pro-active communications, employee involvement and participation, individual feedback and appraisal, application of policies and sound employee relations practices;* Operate effectively within a unionized workplace;* Plan and deploy human resources to deliver the strategic and operational plan.* Develop the careers and skills of the team in a structured manner;* Partners effectively with all multi-functional peers, both internal and external, to deliver KPI and strategic goals;* Build a culture that embraces lean manufacturing and continuous improvement;* Drive organization change utilizing change management principles;* Leads by example Agropur’s core values of cooperation, communication, excellence, integrity and boldness;* Participates in grievances meetings providing leadership and direction to grievance resolution and responses.Language of work: EnglishSalary: $ 41.66 per hour, or $86,652.80 per year
