The work involves a variety of disciplines including turf grass management, irrigation systems, horticultural propagation, pest management and arboriculture.Key ResponsibilitiesConstruct, prepare, lay out and install new planting areas and irrigation systems; test, maintain, repair and winterize irrigation systems.Plant flowers and trees; mow turf areas; water, weed, fertilize and apply pesticides and herbicides to various planted areas; prune trees and shrubs; and perform related horticultural duties.Operate various parks maintenance equipment and machinery (e.G. tractors, edgers, weed trimmers, pruners, chain saws); vehicles, irrigation systems, and a variety of hand and power tools.Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs and lubrication of equipment.Pick up and dispose of debris and litter; handle hazardous waste if required.Perform snow and ice control duties.Receive and respond to service requests from staff, contractors and the public.Maintain various written records (e.G. activity reports, vandalism reports).May provide crew‑leader direction and instruction to helpers on specific job requirements,
