POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director, Development & Engagement, the Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for all marketing and communications activities, including those related to departmental strategy, grants, newsletters, impact stories, media releases, website and social media management and the Annual Report.
In addition to daily administrative responsibilities of the position, the Marketing & Communications Specialist will provide support to the CEO and relevant Directors as required to carry out communications and public facing engagements.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communications
Develop internal and external communication strategy, in collaboration with the Director, Development & Engagement.
Develop and maintain annual calendar of communications.
Create content; including stories and information for marketing, pieces such as annual reports, website, impact statements, newsletters, social media, reports, and stakeholder communications.
Support marketing with updates to website and social media content development.
Develop entries and schedule for grant awareness, acknowledgement and recognition through social media; liaise with funders.
Prepare and circulate media releases; maintain contact with media relationships locally.
Provide content for presentations as required. This may include public facing remarks, blog posts, articles, etc.
Represent communications needs and strategy on committees as assigned (Women of Distinction awards, fundraisers, etc.).
Marketing
Develop and coordination of all marketing for YWCA programs, services, events and new business ventures.
Develop and manage all YWCA internal and external communications including website, Facebook page, Instagram, advocacy, advertising pamphlets, signage, posters, etc.



in order to create an effective awareness of the YWCA Saskatoon.
Plan, develop, implement and monitor media relations and community engagement opportunities.
Champion the YWCA brand both internally and externally.
Assist Directors with coordinated marketing strategies and operational plans for departments.
Seek out and develop a variety of advertising opportunities.
Advocacy and Event Support
Keep current on issues facing all client groups and overarching emergent issues facing women and girls.
Assist program directors with advocacy development when required.
Support women’s advocacy/empowerment events each year to coincide with the YWCA Canada’s Week Without Violence (October) and International Women’s Day (March 8th).
Support fundraising events with marketing and communications strategies to build awareness and participation.
Raise awareness of all YWCA programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree or certificate in English, communications, marketing or a related field
At least 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, fundraising, or a related field
Experience working with non-profit organizations or educational institutions would be an asset
Excellent research, writing, and editing skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Proactive attitude and exceptional organizational abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to research and analyze complex information and translate it into compelling proposals
Solid organizational and project management skills
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Familiarity with fundraising databases and software
