Telecon is looking for an energetic and career minded individual to join our growing team in Calgary as an Installation and Project Supervisor.

This role requires up to 65% travel throughout Alberta. The successful candidate will be provided with a company vehicle and gas card, as well as a company laptop and phone. You will be joining a well-established, experienced team that offers strong support for someone looking to grow and develop in this role.

As the Installation and Project Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, and security of the customer's network assets. This includes performing a variety of daily tasks and assignments such as monitoring network performance, maintaining system safeguards, identifying and resolving issues, and supporting ongoing operational requirements to protect network integrity and continuity.

The expected annual salary for this position is in the range of $75,000 - $81,000 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate's experience, training, skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fiber Optic Transmission Systems, telephony power plants, multiplexers/demultiplexers, alarm systems and ancillary equipment such as power plants, emergency generators, etc. in support of the main components to insure optimal performance on a day to day basis.

Responds in a timely fashion to excavation notices from control center to locate and mark fiber optic cable to prevent damage by foreign excavators. Once facility is located and marked, incumbent will determine next course of action to insure no damage occurs to the cable.

Installation of equipment, racks, labeling and associated power and required cabling in CO's across BC,AB,SK and MB.

Inspections of the cable route as per defined PMR requirements. These inspections are intended to determine condition of the right-of-way and other hazardous conditions that could potentially cause problems for the cable and the integrity of the service provided to its customers.

Inspects the installation of electronics equipment including associated equipment. When required new installation and upgrades of various components of the equipment.

Responsible for the reconfiguration of the network elements from time to time.

In the event of an outage,



incumbent will follow available documented fault location techniques to determine the component (s) in trouble and will then take appropriate steps to replace the defective equipment.

Respond in a timely fashion according in respect of the urgency stated in trouble tickets generated by the control center.

Maintain inventories of shelf equipment and supplies to ensure that the appropriate amount of maintenance spares and other equipment are on hand.

Prepares defective equipment for return and repair and orders materials required when supply reaches established re-order thresholds.

Maintains remote buildings including grounds, support equipment such as air conditioners, heaters, etc.

Coordinates required repair activities with repair services. This may include grounds maintenance such as mowing, weed elimination, trash removals, snow removal, sweeping, etc.

Maintains daily logs, records and trouble conditions reports to document activities and actions taken.

This position will require the incumbent to work in the following conditions;

Working alone or with a team

Outside weather conditions in trenches and manholes

Ambiguous situations

Work with high voltages near roadways or railways

Extended driving of a pickup truck in various sorts of road conditions

REQUIREMENTS:

Familiarity with Cat 5E, Category 6, Category 6A, fiber optic cabling and fusion splicing for network communications capabilities

Experience with fusion splicing OSP and ISP. Familiar with building FOSCs and splicing FMS and FPPAs.

Experience with Installation of Fiber Optic Transmission Systems, telephony power plants, multiplexers/demultiplexers, alarm systems and ancillary equipment such as power plants, emergency generators, etcWireless networking and technically proficient

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications

Valid Driver's license with clean driver's abstract and willing to travel

Ability to successfully pass a security clearance check

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of the organization and business agility





Demonstrated organizational and time management skills

Excellent problem solver with the ability to identify alternative and practical solutions

Strong team player, self-motivated, proactive thinker, flexible and adaptable

Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Self-starter with minimal supervision, identify problems and situation and implement solutions or elevate as required.
