Position Summary:
Shenn Way House is for men who perpetuate violence and harm, who recognize it, and who want to change. This program provides safe, temporary housing and wraparound supports that enables men to engage in therapeutic interventions and take responsibility for their behaviour.

Overnight Case Workers provide ongoing day to day support to the participants residing at Shenn Way House. Through the use of positive role modeling and effective communication skills, the Overnight Case Worker assists participants in taking responsibility for their behavior and living safe and meaningful lives.

Responsibilities
Administration
Ongoing monitoring of administrative files to ensure they are kept complete and up to date
Maintain accurate and timely data collection, data entry and completion of any program assessments and surveys as directed
Completion of accurate written daily documentation (log book entries,



contact notes, incident reports, medication book entries)
Completion of referral and intake documentation

Client Support
Deliver services in a client centered, strength-based approach consistent with program philosophy
Adapt services to meet the needs of diverse populations as per program policy
Build collaborative relationships with participants
Support participants to achieve goals as defined on their individual service plans
Encourage participants to engage in healthy lifestyle alternatives
Transparently address current challenges with participants

Health & Safety
Deliver services in accordance with program and agency policy and procedures
Ensure participants are aware of and understand program rules and respond accordingly
Maintain a protected and secure environment
Communicate pertinent information to supervisor and other staff as necessary
Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of program and property

Community Engagement
Liaise with program partners and other professionals
Maintain positive relationships with community members (neighbors, visitors, etc) and report significant challenges/incidents to supervisor immediately
Contribute to a positive culture by assisting and supporting colleagues as needed and encourage and teach others about the program’s operations
Practice agency mission, vision, values, and guiding principles




Maintain positive, professional working relationships with colleagues
Participate in program meetings
Participate in agency meetings and on agency committees as appropriate

Additional Responsibilities
As directed by the supervisor

Qualifications / Skills:
Diploma or degree in a related human services field
Experience working in residential programs
Knowledge of addictions, mental health, and family violence
Strong communication and relationship building skills
Able to work within a team and effectively deal with crisis situations
Able to work consistent awake overnight shifts
Valid first aid and CPR certification
Certification in suicide intervention and crisis intervention prevention
Criminal record check and child intervention check
General computer knowledge (Microsoft word, outlook, etc)

Conditions of Employment:
The hours of work are 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 40 hours per week, with some evening, day, and weekend availability
