About the Role
The HSSE Learning & Investigation Advisor will supports the Phase 2 Project in incident investigation, causal learning, and organisational learning, ensuring that lessons from incidents are effectively captured, communicated, and embedded across projects and operations.

The role will act as a subject matter expert in investigation methodology and learning processes, enabling continuous improvement in HSSE performance and prevention of repeat incidents.

You will use your expertise to:
Lead Incident Investigation & Causal Learning
Lead or support incident investigations using approved methodologies (e.g. causal learning, Tap Root, 5CRQ)
Define investigation scope, Terms of Reference (TOR), and required resources
Facilitate investigation workshops and interviews with relevant stakeholders
Ensure investigations identify systemic/root causes, not just immediate causes

Participate in Contractor Led Incident Investigation(s)
Observe or participate in Contractor Led Investigations as the LNG Canada representative.
Support Contractor investigation teams with coaching and mentorship.
Influence investigation scope, terms of reference (TOR) and required resources.
Support identification of root causes & development of action items.
Track/Audit contractor assigned action items on a regular basis and report out to Phase 2 management with Gaps/Concerns.
Drive learning from incidents (LFI) across the organisation
Develop and deliver HSSE Action Alerts and Learning materials (presentations, videos, Go & Engage sessions, HSSE Awareness & Newsflash alerts)
Facilitate lessons learned sessions and cross-project learning forums
Ensure learning is translated into practical improvements at frontline level

Provide HSSE Investigation & Learning Process Governance
Support implementation of the HSSE Investigate & Learn process
Work with Asset counterpart to maintain procedures, tools, and templates for investigation and learning
Advise on appropriate level of investigation based on incident severity and learning potential
Ensure compliance with HSSE Management System requirements

Provide Coaching & Capability Development
Coach HSSE teams, leaders, and investigators on:
Causal reasoning
Support development of investigation competency across the project

Manage Stakeholder Coordination & Communication
Interface with:
Investigation sponsors and teams
Project leadership and HSSE management
Contractors and external stakeholders
Act as a central conduit for sharing investigation outputs and learning insights

Manage Corrective Actions & Effectiveness Verification
Ensure identified actions are:
Clearly defined
Assigned to accountable owners




Implemented and tracked to closure
Support verification of effectiveness of corrective actions

Provide Data Analysis & Reporting
Analyse incident trends and identify systemic issues
Support HSSE reporting and dashboards
Provide insights to leadership to improve HSSE performance

To be successful, you will have:
8years’ experiencein HSSE or operational roles that include several years of Incident investigation and root cause analysis for ideally for large or mega projects.
Posses a Degree in Engineering / Science / Safety / Environmental discipline or equivalent HSSE experience
Experience in major projects / construction / oil & gas preferred
Recognised investigation training (e.g. TapRooT, ICAM, Causal Learning)
HSSE certifications (e.g. CRSP, NEBOSH)

This role requires that you:
Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
Role can be based in Calgary or Kitimat, 8 hours per day Monday to Friday
Are willing to comply with LNGC’s drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
This role is expected to end approximately This is a full-time role with benefits, this is not a contractor role.
This role will have extensive travel that requires several days away to Kitimat on a monthly basis, can be up to 50%
