Student Services Specialist I

Medicine Hat College is seeking a temporary, full time International Student Services Specialist in our International Education department.

Details:

Four-year degree in a related field OR an equivalent combination of related work experience and education.

Two years of related experience (international student services, international education, student services), preferably in post-secondary education.

Strong intercultural knowledge and experience in working with culturally diverse populations.

This position requires a candidate who holds Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) or RCIC designation or who has made significant progress toward obtaining RISIA designation.





Considerable knowledge of immigration rules as they apply to international students

Event and activity planning and promotion skills

Strong understanding of: adjustment process for international students, effective strategies to ease transition, and the contribution of international students to the College

Fluent in English. A conversational ability/fluency in another language is an asset.

Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract

First Aid and Mental Health First Aid training (candidates without this certification must obtain it within the first 1 year of employment)

Experience with Student Information Systems is an asset.
