GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Shop Sheet Metal Fabricator is primarily responsible for operating the shop shear and brake to fabricate flashing and other sheet metal components accurately and efficiently. The role also supports tool and equipment readiness, inventory management, jobsite deliveries, and intermittent field or service work when required. The Shop Sheet Metal Fabricator works with the Project Management and Field teams to support project readiness and material flow.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fabrication & Material Handling

· Receive and stage all orders delivered to the shop, coordinating with the Project Manager for verification

· Receive and prioritize flashing orders as directed by the SeniorProject Manager

· Review and approve flatstock takeoffs for fabrication accuracy

· Fabricate flashing and other sheet metal components based on project requirements

· Safely operate the shop shear, brake, and forklift for fabrication and material handling

Tool, Equipment & Inventory Management

· Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained, serviced, and ready for use

· Track tool/equipment/inventory usage, including fasteners, consumables, sheet steel, and safety supplies (in/out)

· Make recommendations on new tool/equipment/inventory purchases as needed (note: all cost implications require prior approval)

· Support field and project teams with timely tool and equipment requests

· Maintain documentation related to equipment service and inspection records

Shop & Yard Organization

· Keep the shop and yard clean, organized, and safe

· Establish systems for material storage, labeling, and job staging

· Ensure that space is optimized for efficient movement and fabrication

· Manage scrap materials and coordinate recycling or disposal as required

Field Support

· Package, load, secure, and unload materials safely and ensure delivered items arrive in good condition

· Provide intermittent field and service support as required,



including preparation of project packages, consumables, and other short-duration site needs within the employee’s training and abilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

· 3–5 years of relevant experience in a fabrication, warehouse, or construction-related setting

· Familiarity with exterior cladding systems,

flashing fabrication, and construction material

· Strong organizational and communication skills

· Experience with sheet metal fabrication and detail interpretation

· Familiarity with the programming and operation of CIDAN shear and brake equipment considered an asset

· Knowledge of safe material handling and equipment operation

· Ability to manage multiple requests while maintaining shop efficiency

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (required for delivery assistance)

· Forklift certification considered an asset

· Tools and equipment are well-maintained and readily available to the teams who need them

· Inventory levels are tracked, and proactive restocking occurs before shortages impact projects

· The Shop Sheet Metal Fabricator produces accurate, timely sheet metal components and supports projects through project coordination and intermittent field or service work when required
