Hawk Machine Works
Edmonton
Hawk Machine Works is seeking a Shop Supervisor to own daily production performance at our Edmonton facility. This is not a headcount-babysitting role. You are accountable for what comes off the floor throughput, on-time delivery, first-pass quality, and safety for a team of 10–15 machinists and support staff.
We machine precision components for the oil and gas sector. Tolerances are unforgiving and delivery commitments are firm. We're looking for someone who has run a floor, knows how to unlock a bottleneck before it becomes a late shipment, and can hold a team to a standard without burning it out.
What You'll Own
Throughput & Delivery
- Accountable for daily production output against schedule and machine utilization targets
- Sequence and dispatch work across the floor; identify and clear bottlenecks, tooling gaps, setup delays, and material shortfalls before they cost you a shipment
- Coordinate with Team Leaders, Quality Assurance, and Shipping to balance workload and keep jobs moving
- Lead daily production meetings; surface schedule risk early with a proposed recovery plan, not just a problem
Quality Outcomes
- Accountable for first-pass quality and rework reduction on your floor
- Ensure every job is run to the routing, print, work instruction, and setup documentation — no verbal shortcuts
- Partner with QA to enforce inspection requirements and quality procedures without exception
- Drive root cause and corrective action on non-conformances; make the fix stick
People & Capability
- Develop the team's technical bench through on-the-job training, coaching, and hands-on support
- Set clear expectations, give timely feedback,
and address performance and conduct issues in partnership with management [and HR]
- Communicate with team members and management clearly, honestly, and promptly
Safety
- Enforce all OHS policies, safe work practices, and PPE requirements — every shift, every person
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations
- Model the standard you expect. No shortcuts.
