Starting Range: Starting at $20.31 (Pending Education & Experience)

Monday to Friday (Part time -10 to 30 hours, as per business needs)

Garden River First Nation, also known as Ketegaunseebee is located near Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The community is part of the Ojibway band and is recognized for its cultural heritage. Created in 1850 with the signing of the Robinson-Huron Treaty, GRFN administers a variety of programs and services.

Garden River First Nation is looking for a Short Order Cook to support the effective day-to-day operation of the kitchen at Garden River First Nation Bingo Enterprises. The Short Order Cook will prepare and serve food, maintain a clean and organized kitchen, and ensure all kitchen operations follow established policies, procedures, health and safety requirements, and applicable legislation. The position also supports the Mission, Vision, and strategic priorities of Garden River First Nation.

What You Will Do





- Organize and oversee daily kitchen operations, including kitchen startup, food preparation, and service
- Prepare and cook menu items efficiently and consistently according to established recipes and food safety standards
- Operate, monitor, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas
- Ensure proper food handling, storage, temperature control, sanitation, and compliance with applicable regulations
- Order, receive, store, and maintain food supplies, including completing daily inventory and stock records
- Provide prompt and courteous customer service, delegate tasks to kitchen staff as required, and communicate operational concerns to the Canteen Supervisor
- Support efficient and profitable kitchen operations by maintaining cleanliness and security, identifying improvements, and performing other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

- Post-secondary diploma in Chef Training or a minimum of two (2) years of related kitchen/food service experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of kitchen and restaurant procedures, including food preparation, handling, storage, hygiene, sanitation, and safety.
- Strong customer service skills with a pleasant, courteous, and professional manner.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including grills, deep fryers, ovens, and other cooking appliances.
- Ability to lift, unload,



and move food supplies and kitchen materials as required.
- Ability to multitask, work independently and as part of a team, adapt to changes in work practices or equipment, and perform effectively under pressure.
- Knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of First Nation culture, values, and traditions; willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and after-hours as required.
- CPIC as a condition of employment
