Duties

- Safely operate shunt trucks to move freight containers, trailers, and equipment within the yard and loading areas
- Use forklifts and other heavy equipment to load, unload, and position freight accurately
- Conduct routine inspections of shunt trucks and other machinery, performing basic automotive repairs as needed to ensure optimal performance
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to organize freight movements efficiently and meet operational deadlines
- Follow safety protocols diligently during all operations, including securing loads and inspecting equipment before use




- Maintain accurate logs of freight movements, equipment usage, and safety checks for compliance purposes
- Assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues on heavy equipment to minimize downtime

Experience

- Proven experience operating commercial vehicles such as shunt trucks or similar heavy equipment in a logistics or warehouse environment
- Familiarity with forklift operation and freight handling procedures
- Knowledge of basic automotive repair techniques for routine maintenance and troubleshooting
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or equivalent certification preferred
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Robust understanding of safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and freight transportation
