Position Overview
Stantec’s North America water team is seeking a Water Treatment Sector Leader. In this leadership role, you will apply your passion for technical excellence and innovation, lead and develop top talent, and lend your voice to our collaborative leadership culture that empowers our people to redefine what’s possible. You will leverage your knowledge of industry drivers and trends to strategically grow our technical capabilities and differentiate Stantec among peers, lead a community of practice that fosters knowledge transfer, encourage innovation, and connect subject matter experts to pursuits and projects that inspire our people and transform communities. You will also support business development and growth by engaging with key clients, creating technical differentiators for our water treatment pursuits, and supporting a strong industry brand and presence.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop a community of practice that shares knowledge and leverages subject matter experts to position, win, deliver, and innovate in the sector; attract and recruit top talent; and proactively develop our team through mentorship, coaching, and career development.

Maintain knowledge of sector‑related industry drivers, regulations, and technologies across North America and globally; use this knowledge to identify and prioritize opportunities for clients, grow technical capabilities,



and foster a strong industry brand.

Develop and implement branding strategies to promote Stantec and the sector; provide thought leadership; manage conference participation to elevate Stantec’s brand presence.

Recruit and retain a distributed team of sector professionals; connect sector practitioners with project managers and delivery experts to plan and deliver high‑quality, innovative solutions.

Collaborate with Stantec’s growth leaders and account managers to develop relationships with key clients, increase awareness of capabilities, connect internal subject matter experts to strategic pursuits, develop winning technical approaches, and identify new project opportunities.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship between Regional Sector Leaders and technical personnel; engage with innovation initiatives and cross‑sector collaboration; build credibility and influence through expertise and integrity.

Key Qualifications and Experience

Ability to lead and inspire teams with a strong commitment to meeting goals and upholding Stantec’s values.

Experienced industry leader in delivering complex water treatment projects, with deep knowledge of sector technical strategies and recognized technical proficiency.

Strategic thinker who proactively addresses market, business, and economic issues affecting the sector, and develops strategies to capitalize on opportunities.

Champion of new ideas and initiatives, creating an environment that supports innovation and leading implementation of emerging technologies.





Skilled collaboration across technical disciplines to add value to projects.

Located in North America (United States or Canada); willingness to travel throughout North America and globally.

Education and Experience

20 years of experience leading technical delivery for water treatment projects, or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience.

Minimum bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, or a related field, from an accredited institution; master’s or PhD preferred.

Professional licensure or willingness to obtain licensure within one year in the province of residency.

Compensation and Advantages

Pay Range: Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario – $191,400.00 – $296,700.00 annually.

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions where required. Actual compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible.
