Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre has an opportunity for a Health Care Aide (HCA) to join our team. As an HCA at our rural hospital you will work on our Goal (Goal Oriented active living unit) and provide support to acute care and ER as needed.You will be a vital part of our collaborative health care team. Previous experience will be valuable in transitioning to your role, however you will be provided with mentorship and education opportunities to increase competence and confidence in your role. You will be expected to provide safe and competent care to our patients in a collaborative, family centered care approach. As a member of our team you will be flexible in what area of the hospital you work in as priorities will change rapidly between each unit.Ponoka, which means Elk in Blackfoot serves a large First Nations community. Our town is located along Highway 2 in the Battle River Valley within an hour drive to major cities. Description: As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation,
and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a protected environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals.PLEASE NOTE: Until a new hire provides proof of HCA certification, they will be paid at the uncertified pay grade in accordance with the AUPE AUX Collective Agreement.
