The successful candidate will work under the direction of Dr. Barra in the role of Research Assistant 1. This position will assist the Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology to perform clinical research studies. Broad responsibilities include all dimensions of research administration: liaising with study participants, physicians and healthcare workers; maintaining certifications; obtaining informed consent from potential study participants and managing documentation, including filing, faxing, data entry, maintaining databases, data stewardship, supporting biobanking maintenance, knowledge translation and orientation of new research trainees; ensuring adherence to privacy and reporting of adverse events requirements. The position is 24 hours per week for 6 months with potential for renewal.Essential QualificationsBachelor's degree in health‑related fieldAt least 2 years prior experience with clinical research including informed consent,



database management and research ethics board documentationRequires excellent interpersonal, supervisory, organizational and planning skills to work effectively in a high‑pressure environment and have the ability to deal with confidential mattersExcellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to communicate effectively general and scientific information both verbally and in writing at all levelsAbility to work independently and make decisions.
