The plan is intended as a living strategy that evolves in response to community priorities. Using personal lived experience, work experience, and robust relationship skills, this person will help put the plan into action. They will work with Indigenous Elders, Traditional Knowledge Keepers,



community leaders, hospital leaders, staff, and other health equity team members to gain insight and share insights for meaningful change. The goal is to make care more culturally safe, respectful, compassionate, and fair.Help create and deliver programs that improve care for Indigenous patients and communities and align with both the Indigenous Health Plan and Lakeridge Health Strategic Plan; success will depend on building strong relationships with Indigenous Elders, Traditional Knowledge Keepers, leaders, and community partners as well as engaging internal resources such as data support, strategy, quality, and organizational development teams to turn evidence into effective programsHelp set up an Indigenous Health Guiding Committee in the first yearAdvise hospital leaders and teams on Indigenous health, health equity, racism, and culturally protected careSupport teams in including Indigenous health and equity in planning, programs, and evaluation, including the use of equity tools, policies, and best practices developed by and/or valued by Indigenous communitiesWork closely with the Chief and Medical Director of Health Equity and Population Health, the Black Health Lead, and the IDEAA teamConnect with people in similar roles—Indigenous Health Leads at other hospitals, public health units, and partner organizations—to provide peer supportQUALIFICATIONSCommunity experience and post‑secondary education (e.G., master’s degree in public health, health promotion, epidemiology,



or a related field)Minimum of 2 years of community experience working in Indigenous communities; key areas of interest include Indigenous health or working in Indigenous‑serving organizationsLived experience, including cultural knowledge and an understanding of Indigenous worldviewsExperience planning, running, or evaluating programsExperience building partnerships with community groups, leaders, and organizationsStrong facilitation, listening, and relationship‑building skillsStrong understanding of Indigenous health, health equity, and the impact of racism in health careStrong writing and speaking skills; ability to write reports, briefing notes, and clear updatesStrong project management skills; ability to manageseveral tasks and meet deadlinesHonesty, humility, and integrityComfort using email, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, the internet, and other common computer toolsClinical experience is not required; experience in health care or public health is an assetEMPLOYMENT CONDITIONSSuccessful external applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six months.
