Role: SQL Server DBA

Key Skills: T-SQL + Azure SQL MI, Performance Tuning + Always On + HA/DR + Backup/Recovery + SSIS + ADF

Brampton, ON - Hybrid (3 Days WFO)

Role Descriptions:

Key Responsibilities

- Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Managed Instance environments.
- Monitor database performance, availability, security, and capacity.
- Implement and manage HA/DR solutions including Always On Availability Groups, replication, backup, and recovery.
- Perform database patching, upgrades, migrations, and maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot production issues related to performance, locking, blocking, and connectivity.

Database Development

- Design and develop T-SQL objects including Stored Procedures, Functions, Views, and Triggers.
- Optimize SQL queries, indexing strategies, and execution plans.
- Develop and support ETL processes using SSIS and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Collaborate with application teams to ensure database design follows best practices.

Java / Spring Boot Development

- Develop, enhance, and support Java-based applications using Spring Boot.
- Build REST APIs and microservices supporting enterprise applications.




- Integrate Spring Boot applications with SQL Server and Azure SQL MI databases.
- Participate in application troubleshooting, performance optimization, and production support.
- Support CI/CD deployments and development best practices.
- Spring Boot experience is desirable but not the primary focus of this role.

Essential Skills

Required Skills

- 7+ years of SQL Server DBA and Database Development experience.
- Solid expertise in:
- Azure SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI), T-SQL Programming
- Query Optimization & Performance Tuning
- SSIS, SSRS, Azure Data Factory
- Database Security & Monitoring
- 2+ years of Java and Spring Boot development experience.
- Experience with REST APIs and Microservices.
- Exposure to Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with Azure cloud services and database migrations.
- Knowledge of Power BI, Databricks, or Synapse.
- PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
- Azure or Microsoft SQL certifications preferred.
