ResponsibilitiesThe Cook is responsible for the preparation of high-quality food in a timely, efficient, sanitary and consistent manner.Work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment while maintaining organization to identify and act on duties quickly and effectively.Contribute as a team member in a dynamic workplace and follow all safety procedures, with a focus on operating in a heat-intensive kitchen environment.Prepare food items in the pantry, fry and/or stations or other areas of the kitchen; set up station according to restaurant guidelines.Follow clean-as-you-go requirements and maintain good knife skills.Prepare all food items as directed, in a sanitary and timely manner, following recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications.Restock items as needed throughout the shift and keep the station clean, safe, and organized.Understand and properly use and maintain all equipment in the station.Assist with cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.Perform additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef or Sous Chef.Prepare dishes for customers with allergies or intolerances while ensuring quality and safety through standard sanitary measures, including cleaning and proper storage of food items.Maintain efficient and consistent pace; ensure timely preparation of all meals and correct quantities to meet daily needs.Utilize kitchen equipment safely and effectively during food preparation; stay productive and plan for future needs as time allows.Demonstrate flexibility and volunteer to fill open shifts as required by staffing variations.Follow proper reporting procedures for accidents and incidents to ensure follow-up and prevention.Adhere to regulations including blood-borne pathogens, infection control, use of hazardous materials, and fire safety.Serve food in proper portion size and at the proper temperature; report any infractions in department policies and procedures.Arrive at the scheduled time and perform other related duties as required.Open and close the station as per requirements; lead by example and demonstrate eagerness to learn.Execute daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalent; qualified diploma orfood services management preferred.Minimum 1 year of cooking experience required.Knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and safe food handling.Ability to lift up to 50 lb; effective communicationand highly flexible interpersonal skills for diverse environments.Strong teamwork, attention to detail, superior time management, multitasking, and the ability to prioritize with minimal supervision.Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel and e-mail.Provincially applicable sell, sale, and handling of alcohol certificate (if required by location).Work ConditionsPosition requires standing 100% of the time; occasional exposure to cold, heat,
