About Us
The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology is the largest basic medical science department within the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. Our Department has award-winning teachers who are committed to delivering high-quality and creative education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. We have a strong focus on research excellence with faculty members recognized internationally for their achievements. A distinctive strength of our Department and disciplines is our comprehensive focus on biological processes from the cellular-molecular level to the integrative-systems level, and on the effects of drugs and environmental agents on these processes.

Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will support day-to-day animal care, enrichment, and research activities in the laboratory, in accordance with institutional animal ethics protocols and guidelines.



The incumbent will assist a registered veterinary technician in carrying out these duties.

Qualifications
Education

Undergraduate degree in a relevant area of focus

Experience

1 year of work experience supporting research in a related technical field

Skills, Abilities & Expertise

Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy

Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work

Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public

Familiarity with regulations and guidelines governing animal-based research

Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs

Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve research goals

Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to document technical information
