We are looking for a dedicated, energetic, and patient person to join our family team and provide support to our daughter.
She is a happy, loving, strong young woman who enjoys being active, creative, and involved in her community. She loves cards, games, puzzles, crafting, and participating in activities that allow her to connect with others. We are looking for someone warm, reliable, and engaging who is interested in building a long-term relationship with her and becoming a trusted part of the people in her life.
This is a part-time position, every Tuesday and Thursday, with shifts approximately 7.5 to 8 hours per day. Training will be provided. The ideal start date is late September, although this may be negotiable.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting her to participate in community outings, activities, and social opportunities
- Participating with her in afternoon aquacise classes on both scheduled days
- Encouraging daily routines and tasks with kindness, patience, and respect
- Looking for opportunities to build relationships with peers, community members, and people who share her interests
- Supporting her to stay active, engaged, and connected throughout the day
- Bringing positive energy, encouragement, creativity, and a calm presence
- Communicating respectfully with her, her family, and others involved in her life
- Supporting independence, choice, dignity, and meaningful participation in community
The ideal person will be:
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities in community settings
- Warm, dependable, patient, and encouraging
- Comfortable actively supporting someone in community-based activities
- Creative and willing to participate in games, crafts, puzzles, outings, and active recreation
- Interested in building a long-term, meaningful relationship
- Respectful, reliable, and able to follow routines while also bringing fun and flexibility to the day
- Comfortable supporting social connection and community inclusion
Requirements:
- Post secondary education in a related field an asset
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable vehicle
- Ability to work Tuesdays and Thursdays during daytime hours
- Willingness to participate in aquacise classes and other activities with her
Home base is in southwest Calgary. This is a meaningful opportunity for someone seeking stable, long-term, part time work in a welcoming family environment.
Pay: $17.88-$21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16.0 per week
